Martvili Canyon – Another Natural Wonder in Georgia

Folks,

Day 5 , After Okatse Canyon and Kinchka Waterfall, our energy level had not decreased. We were enthusiastic enough to head to Martvili Canyon which is 25 Kms from Kinchka, another natural wonder in Georgia. Believe it or not, It was an adhoc plan made by us to visit Martvili but I must say we were very satisfied at the end πŸ™‚ . Another most preferred tourist destination in the west of Georgia πŸ™‚

The Martvili Canyon is a natural wonder in the Samegrelo region of Georgia, near the town of Martvili. Also called the Gachedili Canyon, it is about a 45 minute drive from the city of Kutaisi and 25kms from Kinchka Waterfall in West Georgia. The site had been virtually forgotten except by locals until the early 2000’s, when more and more tourists started posting photos and videos on the internet.

Note : Entry fees for Martvili Canyon is 25 GEL Per person for 30 minutes Boat Tour

The path to a canyon is a 700 m long stone paved circular route starts from visitor center and crosses the Dadiani historical trail. There are 2 bridges, 3 platform views and historical 30 steps stair constructed by large limestone boulders. Visitors can enjoy 300 meter boat tour on river Abasha and beautiful views of mountain river canyon.

We started off with our boat tour on river abasha but had no clue on what we will be experiencing. After some time, we were completely stunned with the views it had to offer. That blue surface river flowing in the midst of naturally formed rocks along with lush green trees under the mountains increases your love for nature :). I have to say it is a perfect place for a nature lover :). Totally, an awesome retreat !
