Karnak Temple – Second Largest Ancient Religious Site in the World

Folks,

Day 3

After Lunch , We headed to the last place of our trip called “The Karnak Temple“. It was dedicated to the God Amon Ra and his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. This temple is 2000 years old and is beautifully structured and is the second largest ancient religious site in the whole world next to the ancient Hindu Temple, Angkor Temple in Cambodia. It has a Sphinx avenue which connects to the Luxor Temple on the other side.It has a hall which covers an area of 50,000 sq ft and filled with 134 gigantic stone columns with 12 larger columns standing 80 feet high lining the central aisle. They used to use the concept of sundial through which the ancient Egyptians used to predict time. It has list of names of the cities carved on the wall which were occupied by the Great King Ramses 2 and many more.

Info : There are lot of similarities between ancient Egyptian culture and ancient Indian culture like Idol worship, Temple and Pillar Construction , Sun god , God of Death , Concept of Priest, Animal worship , Concept of Rebirth , Concept of Heaven & Hell

After couple of hours, we left the Karnak temple and the tour organizers dropped us to the Luxor airport for our flight back to Cairo around 6 PM.

Info : Karnak is the second most visited place in Egypt after the Pyramids of Giza. If you are planning a tour to Egypt, then you better include Karnak in the itinerary as your Egyptian tour will never be complete without the tour.

Later, We reached Cairo. The tour manager dropped us to the hotel. They told us to be ready by 8 in the morning as our flight back to Riyadh was scheduled at 11.15 AM.we finished our dinner and then while we were on our way to room we saw a belly dance show in the hotel which was organised. It was entertaining.

Next day, we got ready by 8 in the morning and finished our breakfast. We saw the pyramids again one last time from the hotel before we left.We really felt that we should have stayed for more time and visited the pyramids again. After some time, The tour manager dropped us to the airport. We finished the immigration formalities and then flied back to Riyadh marking an end to our amazing short trip but still the memories haunts us 🙂
