Wayanad – In the God’s Own Country, Kerala

Folks,

Post Coorg, We started our travel towards the god’s own country, Kerala. We were heading towards Banasura Dam which is in Kalpetta in Wayanad District of Kerala. It is part of the Western Ghats which is covered with lush green forests and narrow roads.Β The Banasura Sagar Dam is located 21 km from Kalpetta. It is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia. It is an important tourist attraction in Kerala. Banasura Sagar Dam is at the foot of the Banasura Hills . πŸ™‚

We had booked accommodation in Seagot Banasura resort which is located very near to Banasura Sagar Dam. We reached the resort around 4 PM in the evening. The route to the resort from main road was risky one filled with leaps and bounds on mud road. The ambiance in the resort was calm and peaceful with drizzling outside almost all of the time.We hardly got a chance to go out of the resort that day.

We felt like we were totally disconnected from the outer world. Yes, Sometimes we feel that way in this busy world right. πŸ™‚ Anyway It was worth once in a while πŸ˜‰

The guest house that was given to us for accommodation was unique. The entrance was beneath the ground and the rear end of the guest house was open to the forest area filled with lust green all across. In Fact , the view was amazing. We could not get a chance to explore much on the day of travel as it was raining heavily most of the time.

Next day morning, the sun finally broke out and we felt a moment of joy that we could explore some areas near by the resort. We finished our breakfast and headed out of the resort to nearby place which was having this scenic view.Β These islands with the background of Banasura hills provide a hypnotizing sight to tourists. Awesome Isn’t it ? πŸ™‚
